Reading over the summer is important and expected of all our students at every grade level. Click on the division-appropriate links below for a detailed list of reading requirements and suggestions. You are also encouraged to visit the PowerSchool Learning library pages for more detailed information (reminder: you must be logged into the parent portal of BucsNet to access). Happy Reading!
The goal of Lower School summer reading is to encourage all students to read every day from a variety of literary genres and to have fun while reading. The emphasis is spent on reading and not on the number of books read.
Middle School students are required to read a minimum of three books, two of which are required by grade level (for grades 5–7 only. Eighth graders have other requirements. See documents below for details).
There's been a slight change to Upper School's usual summer reading expectations. This summer, each student is expected to read a book on a topic of personal interest and be prepared to share it in advisory next fall. The book should be one that the student has not yet read, and should be an appropriately challenging level.
