By Nancy Ehringhaus, Director of Admissions
This year’s admissions season was an extremely busy one with a record number of applicants for grades JK–12 from here in Charlotte to as far away as Australia. The fall months were filled with Open Houses, prospective parent tours, visits, and many conversations helping families gain insight into what makes a Country Day education so exceptional. We share everything from strong academics to community service to travel to athletics to arts to honor to leadership, and more. Along with our team, it takes our entire community of faculty, parents, students, administrators, and alumni to tell our story.
Consider we receive almost 600 applications. Each applicant and their family has at least 10–12 touch points with someone on our Admissions Team. That is approximately 6,000 visits, calls, or meetings with someone in our office. Every family is important and every conversation makes a difference in the perception of Country Day, so we work hard to make every touch point a positive one.
With a record number of applicants, the assistance from our parent volunteers is invaluable. They give tours, share in conversations, and provide a deeper understanding of our community. The Parents’ Association team was by our side from our first Open House to our most recently enrolled student. We could not do the work we do without them!
We have a variety of ways to stay connected to families during the admissions process from personal phone calls to monthly news about the school. Videos also are a wonderful way for us to communicate with prospective families the many ways Country Day is an exceptional place from junior kindergarten to graduation! We recently shared the video below with accepted families and we thought you would enjoy it as well. We hope it brings a smile to your face as you see many teachers, students, and experiences familiar to you!
