Meet Our Team

David Lynn

David Lynn

Director of International Studies

David joined Country Day in August 2013 from the American School of Paris, where he served for eight years as a middle and upper school social studies teacher. While in Paris, he organized academic and service trips to India, South Africa, China, Mexico, Japan, the United States, and throughout Europe. Prior to this, David taught at Shackleton School, an experiential-based high school in Massachusetts and served as an ESL teacher in Ketsoprony, Hungary, and Linyi, China. A world traveler, David has visited 97 countries and 43 states. He earned his bachelor's of arts in history and leadership studies from the University of Richmond and his master’s in education from Harvard University.

Nancy joined the International Studies team in November 1994. Nancy enjoys working with all the students she encounters at Country Day. She especially enjoys seeing students grow as a result of reaching out to experience international opportunities.

Jessica Newman

Jessica Newman

Service Learning and Sister School Exchange Coordinator

Jessica joined the International Studies team in 2012. Having taught French at Country Day for seven years, Jessica has a passion for all things international. Her work in the International Studies Office includes developing and leading the Canadian Sister School program from its inception. Jessica holds a BA in French from Furman University and an MA in French Literature and Language from Boston College. Most recently she was awarded two Fulbright Hays grants, which deepened her understanding of diverse cultures in Cyprus and Morocco.

Student Leaders

Upper School International Studies Board: Through an application process, students are selected to sit on the board and take an active role in developing and promoting international studies within our school community.

Middle School Global Action Team: A group of 10 students, selected by the Middle School Student Council, promotes the global community, organizes international-themed events, provides feedback on exchange experiences, and advises the Director of International Studies.


Parent Leaders

Ambassadors for International Studies: These parent volunteers support the program by coordinating field trips for Sister School exchange students visiting our school and helping with duties such as preparing orientation packets or planning special events.

Parent Global Ambassadors: This group promotes global mindedness throughout the Country Day community through classroom support, special events, and by welcoming students and faculty from around the world to our campus.
