Third Graders Code Fun Math Game for Kindergarteners

In a recent Design Lab's Coding and Design unit, third graders tackled real-world challenges. The challenge at hand? To design and create a fun and engaging math practice game specifically tailored for kindergarteners.

Recognizing the importance of early math skills and the need for interactive learning tools, our third graders set out to design an educational game while reinforcing fundamental math concepts.

First, our students interviewed kindergarteners to gain a better understanding of their preferences, such as favorite colors and sports. Collaboratively, they crafted a four-question math game, selecting concepts suitable for kindergarteners. After they finalized their designs, students used the Scratch Jr. app to code an interactive game tailored to the kindergartners' needs and preferences.
