Students Shine on Stage and Backstage at Blumey Awards

The Upper School Theater Program took home two Blumey Awards on May 29, 2022 winning Best Choreography and Best Direction. It was a magical evening  for our students who garnered eight nominations overall.

Nominations include:

Best Musical
Best Ensemble
Best Direction
Best Choreography
Best Supporting Actress (Grace Tingen '23)
Best Actress TOP 6 (Sophie Davis '22)
Best Actor TOP 6 (Lance Toppin '23)
Best Stage Manager TOP 6 (Emma Taylor '22)

The Blumeys recognize, reward, and encourage talent and achievement in musical theater among high school students in the greater Charlotte area. Much like the Tony Awards, the Blumeys combine entertaining performances with the awards presentations.

As a Best Musical nominee, the cast and crew of Anastasia performed “Once Upon a December” from the show, and Sophie Davis and Lance Toppin performed in the opening and closing acts, as well as in the best actor and best actress numbers. Emma Taylor served as one of the three nominees selected to be an official stage manager of the Blumey Ceremony.

In addition to the students, congratulations go to the creative team of Jenny Goodfellow, director; Linda Booth, choreographer; and Lindsey Schroeder, musical director.
