Dear Country Day Community,
During my visits with you last year, I bore joyful witness to the passion and care you bring to this community. Like many of you, I truly believe that great schools grow from the hearts of great teachers—and that when educators feel seen, supported, and inspired, they create the conditions where every student can thrive.
Recently, I partnered with author Jennifer Wallace in this NAIS podcast to discuss how prioritizing teacher well-being is reshaping how we think about success in our schools. You may know Jennifer’s bestselling book, Never Enough: When Achievement Culture Becomes Toxic—and What We Can Do About It. In the book, she uncovers how high-achieving environments can unintentionally harm student mental health, and why schools need to take the lead in changing the narrative.

We’re pleased that Jennifer will be visiting Country Day on November 4 to lead what I believe is the most important conversation for schools today: teachers and staff members knowing that who they are and what they do truly matters. To prepare for her visit, I invite you to join me in some summer reading—or listening—around her work. You can choose how you'd like to engage:
I look forward to your active participation in this important schoolwide conversation to benefit each and every member of this community—faculty, staff, parents, and, most especially, students. In partnership, Tara Dr. Tara Christie Kinsey |
