Excellent Educators, Curriculum, Opportunities, and Support Deliver Strong Minds

Inspiring our students' genuine curiosity and mastery of knowledge through authentic learning, while supporting them as known and valued individuals, was on full display in recent weeks.

Here are just a few of the ways Country Day is delivering its strategic vision, which include excellence in education, healthy striving, a responsibility to serve, and lifelong community.

  • National Merit Recognition for 17 Class of 2027 Students: Semifinalists represent the top 1% of test-takers nationwide and include some of North Carolina's highest-scoring students. We are so proud of these students and this well-deserved recognition of their academic achievement!

  • Science Symposium Showcases Students Inspired to Go Deeper: Now in its 15th year, the Science Symposium gives Upper School students the opportunity to share their self-directed research endeavors. Read Head of School Dr. Kinsey's post on how many projects incorporated a service angle, and Head of Upper School Nidhi McVicar's Monday message, which eloquently describes the many skills (and courage) required to undertake these projects.

  • Talking With Your Child About Progress Reports: In today's competitive world, our children can be their toughest critics. Kasey Short, Assistant Head of Middle School, shares tips for parents that frame progress report discussions as opportunities for learning and growth.

  • The People Who Make Country Day Home:  An excellent educational experience doesn't happen for our students without the genuine care and dedication of best-in-class educators. During last week's Faculty & Staff Appreciation Games, student-athletes had the opportunity to recognize the faculty and staff members who have made their school feel like a lifelong community. Upper School student Ella Standish, shared about her fifth-grade science teacher Kristi Cooper, “She left a lasting impact that has stayed with me long after leaving her classroom.”
