Dowd Student Center

Opened August 2019

The Dowd Student Center is a focal point for all students on Cannon Campus and provides flexible, multiuse spaces for students and teachers to interact and collaborate, as well as much-needed contemporary dining areas that promote nutritional health and overall wellness for our students, faculty, and staff.

In doubling the current capacity of our dining services through separate dining and seating areas for Lower and Upper School students, this new facility allows Lower School to schedule lunch in a manner more suitable to the academic day. Additionally, the Campus Store is located in the Dowd Student Center.

Generous $3 Million Gift from the Dowd Foundation

Country Day is grateful to the Dowd Foundation and a personal commitment from Frank '74 and Janis Dowd and support from the Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Company, who made a generous $3 million pledge to name the new Dowd Student Center. Frank and Janis also generously established an endowed fund.

"As one of the founding families of Country Day, the Dowds are perpetuating their legacy as we shape our future," said Head of School Mark Reed. "Their gift provides tremendous momentum as we secure additional support for the Dowd Student Center and other strategic priorities over the next several years."
