Charlotte Country Day School is pleased to announce that Michael Rinehart has been appointed as the school’s next Head of Middle School, effective July 1, 2026.
A dedicated educator with more than 25 years of experience, Michael has been a valued member of the Country Day community for 22 years. He currently serves as Assistant Head of Middle School and has held a wide range of roles over the years, including science and math teacher, department chair, seventh-grade coordinator, scheduler, substitute coordinator, and coach.
Known for his thoughtful leadership and deep commitment to students, Michael has played an integral role in shaping the Middle School experience. His work has extended beyond the classroom to include Director of Summer Programs and chaperoning many Country Day international trips, including to Costa Rica, Mexico, Italy, and Peru. Michael is known for being humble, kind, and quietly courageous in tackling thorny issues, and is widely respected and beloved by Middle School faculty, staff, parents, and students.
“The Middle School has played a formative role in shaping me as an educator, parent, and administrator," Michael said. “It is truly a special place community filled with joy, incredible faculty and staff, and students engaged in meaningful learning. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead the Middle School in its next chapter of excellence, nurturing, and cultivating its tremendous potential."

Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in education from the University of Notre Dame. He and his wife, Meghan, are the proud parents of two Country Day students.
