Brian Sossamon Appointed as Chief Information Officer

Charlotte Country Day School is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Sossamon as Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective July 1, 2026.

As a member of the school’s Leadership Team, Brian will lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive, mission-aligned technology strategy that integrates educational technology, IT operations, and data systems across all divisions and campuses.

Following a thorough national search, we identified a leader who brings both deep technical expertise and a forward-thinking approach to educational technology. Brian offers a strong blend of strategic insight and relational leadership, along with extensive experience leading technology departments. Most recently, he served as Director of Information Technology at Eagle Creek Renewable Energy. His background also includes leadership roles in independent schools, including Director of Technology at Trinity Episcopal School and Senior Network Systems Administrator and Interim Director of Technology at Charlotte Latin School.

Brian holds a Master of Business Administration and brings significant experience in technology strategy and innovation, building data-informed systems to support decision-making, and strengthening infrastructure and security to enhance both organizational effectiveness and student learning.

Reporting to the Assistant Head of School, Brian will oversee the newly integrated comprehensive technology team. In this role, he will guide the implementation of schoolwide technology policies and support professional growth opportunities for faculty and staff. His systems-thinking approach and “curator’s mindset” will help ensure that the school’s technological capacity remains closely aligned with the Country Day mission.

Reflecting on his decision to join Country Day, Sossamon shared:

“I chose to join Charlotte Country Day School as CIO because of its commitment to excellence, innovation, and community—values that align closely with my own. The opportunity to lead a forward-thinking technology strategy in an independent school setting is especially meaningful as education continues to evolve. I’m excited to build strong teams and enhance how technology supports teaching, learning, and operations across the school.”
