After more than 40 years of extraordinary service to Charlotte Country Day School, Director of Admissions and Financial Aid Nancy Ehringhaus has announced her decision to retire at the end of the 2025–26 school year (June 2026).
Throughout her tenure, Nancy has been a steadfast advocate for students and families, a trusted leader in our admissions efforts, and a deeply respected member of our community.
"This news brings mixed emotions—pride and happiness for a friend who will now have the opportunity to spend more time with her family, and at the same time, recognition of what this transition means for our school," said Interim Head of School David Mancos in an announcement to our community. "I am also deeply aware of how much she will be missed—not just by me, but by all of us who have had the privilege of knowing her.
"Country Day is a family, and while Nancy will step away from her office at the end of next year, her impact will remain an important part of who we are. Her deep institutional knowledge will not be lost, as she will remain a valued member of our community both as a grandparent and trusted partner and advisor. She has helped make Country Day a warm and welcoming place, not just in admissions but across our entire school. That spirit will continue, a reflection of the culture she has helped build. Fortunately, we have a full year to celebrate her, thank her, and recognize all she has given to our school.
"Nancy’s impact on Country Day is immeasurable. Her commitment to our mission, her warmth, and her unwavering professionalism have touched the lives of generations of students, parents, and colleagues. While her retirement marks the end of an era, we are grateful that her presence will continue through her role as a grandparent and lifelong ambassador of our school."
Country Day is launching a national search in partnership with Carney Sandoe to identify the next Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. This process will be led by a search committee chaired by incoming Head of School, Dr. Tara Christie Kinsey.
