Announcing our New Director of Health and Wellness

Charlotte Country Day School is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Danielle Dixon Scott as the School's inaugural Director of Health and Wellness, effective July 1, 2026.

Dr. Danielle Dixon Scott

A licensed clinical psychologist with more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Scott brings expertise spanning clinical practice, school-based services, academic medicine, and community engagement. Throughout her career, she has developed evidence-based wellness programs that promote resilience, mental health, and overall well-being while building strong partnerships among faculty, staff, families, and the communities they serve.

Most recently, Dr. Scott served as Assistant Clinical Professor and Behavioral Health Faculty Lead at the Moses Cone Family Medicine Residency Program at UNC–Chapel Hill. There, she designed and led Mindful Medicine, a longitudinal curriculum focused on physician well-being, resilience, stress management, and professional identity formation.

"Dr. Scott is an exceptional leader whose experience and vision align perfectly with our commitment to educating and supporting the whole child," said Head of School Dr. Tara Christie Kinsey. "She understands that student well-being is foundational to learning and growth, and she brings both the expertise and collaborative spirit needed to strengthen and expand our culture of wellness across every division of our School."

Dr. Scott also brings valuable insight into independent school communities, having served as a trustee and strategic planning committee member at Collegiate School in Richmond, Virginia. She is also a familiar face at Country Day as the parent of Elle Scott, a member of the Class of 2025.

In her new role, Dr. Scott will partner with the School's counselors, nurses, health and physical education faculty, and other school leaders to establish Country Day's inaugural Health and Wellness Team. Together, they will build upon the School's existing strengths to create a coordinated, comprehensive, and schoolwide approach to student wellness.
