61st Big Saturday Celebrates Community and Delights Bucs

Thunder rumbled through Charlotte at 4 pm on Saturday, April 20, 2024 serving as a metaphorical round of applause for another glorious Big Saturday at Charlotte Country Day School.

Cannon Campus was brimming with music, laughter, and joy, as Bucs friends and family relished the 61st installment of this spring festival. We truly had it all:

  • Thrilling rides generously scattered across the field? Check!
  • Delectable global cuisine in the International Food Hall? A fan-favorite, as always!
  • Competitive carnival games galore? A nostalgic staple, of course!
  • Take-home treats via the bake sale and prize booth? Clamored for, naturally!
  • …and most importantly, big smiles, community fellowship, and a shared love for Country Day? Positively overflowing!

As with each Big Saturday, hundreds of parent, faculty, and student volunteers graciously lent their time to make the event a smashing community success. Boundless thanks go to Big Saturday Co-Chairs, Elizabeth Carr and Jillian Bank, and Projects Board Chair Jill Halverstam, for deftly stewarding the volunteer corps in planning this wonderful and intricate event.

Marking another beloved tradition, the 40th annual Art Sale was a transcendent experience boasting a gorgeous array of offerings. Sure to go down in history, this year’s sale was curated and chaired by the visionary Cate Gutter and Kaitlin Vandura

Finally, it wouldn’t have been Big Saturday without the excitement of the Car Raffle! Lucky winner and Country Day parent Lori Goodman will receive a credit of $30,000 toward a vehicle from Williams Automotive Group. Hearty thanks to Car Raffle Co-Chairs Kati Small and Meredith Tomascak for organizing the raffle and enthusiastically motivating hordes of students to sell raffle tickets!
