International Parents Bring the World to Campus

The International Parent Group at Country Day plays a vital role in creating meaningful cultural connections for students, parents, and faculty. Through their enthusiasm and generosity, they bring unique traditions and flavors to life on campus, fostering a deeper appreciation for the world’s diverse cultures.

During National Hispanic Heritage Month, our community had the joy of experiencing the rich traditions of Spain. With the guidance of a Spanish chef and the invaluable support of Country Day parent Luisa Garcia-Pardo, the Quad transformed into a celebration of food and culture. Upper School students and staff gathered to learn the story behind paella, watch the preparation unfold, and enjoy over 400 plates of delicious chicken and veggie paella.

The celebration extended to the Farm, where the Taste of Cultures program offered AP and IB Spanish students a fully immersive experience. Under the expert guidance of Chilean Chef Andres Prussing and Country Day parent Fabiola Bobo, students prepared authentic Chilean dishes while engaging in Spanish conversation. This hands-on opportunity helped students enhance their language skills and cultural understanding, all while enjoying the vibrant flavors of Chile.

In the video below, Fabiola Bobo shares her inspiring story and connection to her Chilean heritage. A student also reflects on the experience, proudly sharing her insights in fluent Spanish.

We are grateful to our International Parent Group for bringing these unforgettable experiences to life and enriching our community with their cultural generosity.
