11th & 12th Grade Education for Social Justice students take Social Activism Walking Tour of Uptown Charlotte Led by David Lynn

Seven 11 & 12-grade students in Mr. Wise & Ms. Butler’s Education for Social Justice class took a Social Activism Walking Tour of Charlotte led by Global Studies Director David Lynn. Students in the class have been examining social justice issues locally, nationally, and internationally during the second half of the school year. The field trip was an opportunity for students to understand the rich history of Charlotte and various locations within the city connected to historical moments of social activism. Mr. Wise, Ms. Butler, David Lynn, and students visited sites such as the Charlotte Mecklenburg Government Center (Charlotte City Council), the Second Ward (formerly Brooklyn Village), Grace A.M.E. Zion church and its mural, BLM protest locations, The Gandhi Statue at the Old Country Courthouse, and had a delicious lunch at King’s Kitchen. A big thank you to David Lynn for all his hard work and for leading the tour!
