Country Day Director of Athletics, Abe Wehmiller, has announced the hiring of Jenn Lucas as the Bucs’ new Softball Program Head and Head Varsity Softball Coach. Lucas is stepping in for Adriane Starnes, who departed Country Day this summer after restarting the softball program in 2012 and serving as program head for seven years.

“The vision for success here in athletics and the softball program is evident everywhere you look,” Lucas said. “I’m grateful to know that I’ll be a part of it.”

Softball Program Head, Jenn Lucas

Lucas is a native of Pinckney, Michigan and is a 2015 graduate of Eastern Michigan University. She was a four-year member of the Eagles’ Division I softball team, playing a significant role as an infielder in each of her seasons there.

She honed her coaching skills as an assistant coach with various 12U and 16U travel teams and at college camps and currently works as a personal trainer and softball instructor at Trifecta Athletics. She will continue her work at Trifecta alongside her new duties at Country Day.

“What we saw in Jenn during our interview process was someone who brings to her work great softball playing experience and an ability to teach the finer points of the game to players at multiple skill levels,” Wehmiller said. “We also saw someone who places values building meaningful relationships with the players in her care. We are excited to be the program where she begins her journey as a head coach.”
