A JK THROUGH 12 INDEPENDENT SCHOOL IN CHARLOTTE, NC

1941

Admissions Process

Let's Get Started

Step A: Submit an application. (Deadline for the 2022-23 school year has passed.)

The Admissions process begins in the fall with Open Houses, campus visits, and meetings with the Admissions team. The application deadline for the 2022–23 school year was January 15, 2022. If you have any questions, please contact the Admissions Office at admissions@charlottecountryday.org.

Step B: Learn more about Country Day and schedule a visit.

We are eager to meet you and welcome you to our campus and community! Please e-mail the Admissions Office or call (704) 943-4530 to schedule an appointment with an admissions team member.

Step C: Complete an entrance test.

Entrance tests are one of the many tools we use to help ensure the best placement for each student.

  • Grades JK–4
In the Charlotte region, a number of qualified psychologists offer standardized screening assessments for younger applicants. These tests need to be scheduled directly with the psychologist. Review the Charlotte Area Independent Schools (CAIS) brochure.
  • Grades 5–12
Older applicants are asked to take the Independent School Entrance Examination (ISEE), a standardized admissions test for students in upper grades. The ISEE measures verbal and quantitative ability, mathematics skills, reading comprehension, and writing skills. Complete testing details are on the ISEE Web site.
  • International Students
International applicants are asked to take the TOEFL test to measure the ability to use and understand the English language. Please visit TOEFL for more information.

Step D: Interview with a faculty member.

Every applicant receives an invitation to meet with a grade-appropriate member of our faculty. This informal conversation is an opportunity for students to learn more about Country Day and for us to learn more about a candidate's character traits, abilities, emotional maturity, curiosity, and breadth of interests.

Step E: Send us recommendations.

Online teacher recommendation forms are accessible on your personalized checklist in your Admissions Parent Portal once an application is submitted.

Step F: Send us your transcripts.

If you are applying for grades 6–12, please submit the transcript release form to your current school in mid-January. This form can be found on your personalized checklist in your Admissions Parent Portal.

Step G: Track your application process.

We use an online system that allows you to stay informed on various items we require during the admissions process. Once an application is submitted, you will be able to view which items we have received by viewing your personal checklist in the Admissions Parent Portal.
