Hance Family Gallery

The Hance Family Gallery exhibits artwork from our students, faculty, alumni, and visiting artists. Every year, we host an exhibit open to the public featuring works from special artists.

Student Art Experiences Abroad

Upper School Artists Explore Italy

Upper School students are offered an art and art history experience, exploring in-depth artistic expressions in the beautiful town of Cortona, Italy. Students in grades 10–12 also travel to Rome, Florence, and surrounding towns to learn about art first hand from the works themselves. Students enjoy creating their own artwork in a private studio and learn the ancient fresco painting technique from world-renowned restorers in Florence.

Middle School Creative Arts England Exchange

Middle School students explore creative arts opportunities for 12 days with our sister school exchange with King Edward VI School in Southampton, England. Eighth grade students are given the option to explore opportunities in visual arts, music, dance, creative writing, photography, or a combination of more than one art form.

Extraordinary Opportunities

Country Day parent and internationally recognized artist Chas Fagan worked with our eighth-grade art students on the design of a sculpture. The sculpture depicts an oak tree stump draped with a buccaneer flag and tricorn hat, with various symbols representing learning, knowledge, and Country Day history. It is approximately four feet high and sits on a natural granite base on Bissell Campus. Eighth-grade art students came up with the theme because they wanted to visually tell a story that combined the schools mission, history, and culture.
