The Country Day Experience

At Country Day, academic rigor is balanced by community service and athletic, artistic, and extracurricular endeavors.

Our goal is to shape confident, healthy, well-rounded adults who are comfortable and successful in diverse settings—individuals of honor, integrity, and purpose who are ready to make significant contributions to society.

What makes the Country Day experience so remarkable?

Principled Character

Leadership, integrity, determination, and discipline are valued and modeled at Country Day. A diverse student body creates a healthy backdrop for the development of true empathy as students learn to see the world from many perspectives. Our Honor Code asks all students to act with honor in everything they do.

Engaged Citizenship

From a very early age, students examine what it means to belong to a community and the potential impact of one person’s actions. A wide variety of clubs and organizations give our students opportunities to express themselves and to listen with respect to opinions different than their own. They develop a lifelong ability to contribute to the greater good, both locally and globally.

Ingenuity

True education is about learning to solve problems. Teachers develop this critical skill in their students by encouraging curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking. In partnership with parents, we help students become confident and resilient, ready to take on the complex issues in a fast-changing world and become thought leaders for the next generation.

Developing Talent

From the classroom to the playing field to the studio, Country Day students have broad opportunities to discover their passions and build the skills to reach their true potential. Our award-winning teachers and coaches serve as mentors to our students as they develop their own unique talents.

Cultural Fluency

We create experiences that encourage relationships across cultural boundaries and lead to a broad world view. Our student community is diverse in terms of their race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, and interests. Country Day’s Office of Diversity Planning was established to ensure that our diverse community is supported with resources, policies, and curricula.

Global Mindedness

Students have numerous opportunities to connect to a world that becomes smaller every day. Global studies are embedded into the curriculum at every level and a broad spectrum of teachers have participated in international experiences that they bring back to their classrooms. Our International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is a globally recognized, rigorous course of study that focuses on world citizenship.

Meaningful Relationships

Our exceptional community of teachers, coaches, advisors, parents, students, and alumni take care of one another. As a result, our students develop deep connections to the community and the world as they learn through experience to compromise, resolve conflict, and consider the feelings of others.

Well-Being

A Country Day education emphasizes the fundamental role that balance and good health play in a fulfilling life. We work together to create an environment where all members of the community can safely learn and we encourage habits that lead to confidence, pride, and future success. Students are supported and encouraged both in and out of the classroom to make good decisions and participate in a variety of activities.
