Remote Learning

Even though our physical classrooms are closed for the remainder of the school year, student learning continues remotely. We have developed very specific plans regarding the delivery of our educational programming and students are already accustomed to working online. We believe that our remote learning plan fosters deep, engaging, and meaningful learning for our students of all ages.

Asynchronous Model
  • Instruction will follow an "asynchronous" model, where teachers post lessons and course materials in advance for students to work independently, yet still aligned with the school calendar. We will not host or require "real time" live instruction classes.
  • An asynchronous model allows for adaptation and customization for faculty to meet the needs of students. 
  • In order to maintain a personal connection that faculty feel with their students, optional "synchronous" experiences will be available for Middle and Upper School teachers and students to connect. Lower School teachers will continue to build relationships through daily videos and weekly phone check-ins with students.
  • Asynchronous learning allows for more schedule flexibility for our students, which benefits all members of our community. It also limits excessive screen time and promotes balance during a time when many of our students will likely be on screens more than usual.
  • We will assess this model after a couple of weeks and will make adjustments as needed to best serve our students. 
Schedule and Attendance
  • Teachers' schedules will follow usual school hours (7:30 am–3:45 pm), however, please allow 24 hours for them to respond to queries, per our usual policy. 
  • While daily attendance will not be taken in its traditional form, it will be monitored by teachers based on work accomplished and submitted daily.
