Global concerns related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) continue to grow every day. The health and safety of our community is always a top priority for our school.

As we continue to learn more each day about how COVID-19 is spreading, who is at risk, and how it will affect school communities, we are committed to making our decisions as fact-based as possible. Please continue to refer to this page for ongoing updates and resources, to ensure we are all doing our part to keep our community as safe as possible. Campus Safety Efforts:

On campus, we have heightened steps to keep students and employees healthy when we return to school:

Our cleaning service increased its cleaning and disinfecting of transmission points, such as doorknobs, water fountains, light switches, copy machines, and so forth.
We installed additional hand sanitizing stations around campus.
Faculty and staff received communication from our school nurses, reiterating steps to help reduce the spread of germs; most importantly, making sure they and their students are regularly and thoroughly washing their hands with soap and water.

Please remind your children to wash their hands regularly and cover their mouth or nose when they cough or sneeze. Watch this helpful instructional video.

Prevention

The Mecklenburg County Health Department recommends these steps to prevent the spread of ALL respiratory illnesses:

Wash your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Watch this helpful instructional video.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
Stay home when you are sick.
Get a flu shot, it's not too late! During this time of year, respiratory illnesses in NC are often caused by infection with influenza or viruses that cause the common cold.
