Special Events
Run for Good
(Projects Board)
Volunteers assist event Co-Chairs on race day. Opportunities include decorations, registration, field events, entertainment, and food service. Race will occur on a weekday afternoon after school. Commitment is in the fall. (Please note, Run for Good and the All School Family Picnic events are held together.)
All School Family Picnic
(Projects Board)
Committee members assist Chair with planning, event setup/clean up as well as short assigned shifts during the event. Picnic will be held in the Fall; commitment is August-October. (Please note, Run for Good and the All School Family Picnic events are held together.)
Soup Bowls for Hospice
(Friends of the Arts)
Volunteers assist with check in, supplies, and demonstrating the bowl-making process. Volunteers also prepare clay, glaze, and pack the finished bowls for Soup on Sunday, a fundraising event for Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte. No experience necessary. Commitment is in the Fall.
Holiday Breakfast
(Projects Board)
Committee is responsible for coordinating event logistics – decorations, event set up/clean up, food, and more. The Breakfast will take place the first day of holiday break (a Friday morning in mid-December). Commitment is September-December; availability the day before and the day of the event is required.
Annual Golf Outing
(Booster)
This annual event is one of the Booster Club’s largest fundraisers. Volunteers are needed to help build teams for the event, solicit sponsors, prepare marketing, and manage check-in.
Booster Club General Volunteers
(Booster)
Sign up to be on the pool of Booster Club’s volunteers to support Country Day’s athletics and you may be tapped to help at the concessions stand or hand out spirit gear at a home football game.
Big Saturday
(Projects Board)
Opportunities include event setup and tear down, decorations, bake sale, retail food and beverage, games and rides, prizes, merchandise, signage and more.
Art Sale
(Projects Board)
Assist co-chairs in the planning, setup, execution and tear down of the sale. Sale setup occurs on the Wednesday before Big Saturday. The sale runs from Thursday through Big Saturday. The tear down will occur immediately following Big Saturday through the following Sunday.
Car Raffle
(Projects Board).
Assemble and distribute sales information and incentives, provide logistical support the week of Big Saturday, and assist with day of sales at Big Saturday.
Used Book Sale
(Projects Board).
Volunteers collect, evaluate, organize used books and assist with sales. Collection takes place in May; sale takes place in July/August.
Lower School (LS)
Classroom Parents (CPs)
CP volunteers work in partnership with the Classroom Parent LS Board Co-Chairs and act as liaisons between classroom teachers and parents in each classroom. CPs work with teachers to coordinate classroom activities, secure parent volunteers for classroom and school events (including Big Saturday), and e-mail parents monthly updates and reminders. CPs attend one meeting in August and work with the Classroom Parent LS Board Co-Chairs throughout the year via e-mail and phone. Two CPs per class; commitment is August–May. CP positions are filled in early summer.
Hospitality
Volunteers provide LS teacher and staff division support, including providing teacher snacks a few times throughout the year, volunteering at teacher and staff events, helping with the Lunches-to-Go event, assisting with Teacher Appreciation Week, and supporting two events for Plant Ops/cafeteria staff. Committee meets once in August; standing commitment runs August–May but volunteers opt in to the events they are able to support.
Library
Assist librarians with circulation, shelving books, and volunteer at the Fall Book Fair in November. Volunteers work two days per month between 9-10:30am. This position offers a fun, enjoyable opportunity for interaction with teachers and students during their school day. Volunteers must be able to make a standing commitment to a regular time slot, August–May.
Grades JK/K Morning Carpool
A fun opportunity for all parents and a joyful way to start your day. Volunteers open car doors and supervise the arrival of children each morning. Commitment is two mornings a month from around 7:40–8:05 am, August–May.

Parent Education Representative
Volunteers act as liaisons between the Parent Education LS Board Co-Chairs and parents in each classroom. PE reps plan and host your Fall classroom parent social and help with LS Grade Level Coffees and Lunches, including the ‘Before the Bell’ coffee. One representative per class; commitment is August–May.
Parent Education Special Events
Volunteers plan, organize, and staff special events such as the Lemonade Party, Halloween Parade, Before the Bell coffees, and Parent Ed grade level coffees and lunches. Volunteers may also provide donated items such as bottled water, chocolates, or floral arrangements for these special events. Commitment is August–May.
Visual Arts
Volunteers hang LS student art in various areas on campus throughout the year. Volunteers should be flexible with scheduling. Commitment is September–May.
Middle School (MS)
Advisory Parent (AP)
The AP will communicate with Advisors regularly and e-mail parents as needed. The AP will also serve as support for new families in the advisory and coordinate the Advisor’s birthday celebration. One AP per advisory class; commitment is August–May.
Hospitality
Volunteers provide monthly snacks for the faculty/staff occasionally throughout the year, provide refreshments for various other school events, and assist with the Teacher/Staff Appreciation Luncheon in May. Commitment is August–May.
Media Center
Volunteers work in the media center one day a month for two hours and assist with the Spring Book Fair. Commitment is August–May.
Visual Arts, Music and Drama
Volunteers help support the art, music, and drama departments as needed throughout the year including preparing and hanging selected art for display, helping with auditions and plays, helping with the winter and spring concerts, and Fine Arts Night in April. Commitment is September–May.
Upper School (US)
Grade Level Support (Grades 9–11)
Volunteers assist Grade Parent with class projects, fundraisers, and special snacks during their specific grade-wide retreat, Spirit Week, Valentine’s Day and exams. This committee also works in cooperation with the Hospitality committee as needed. Commitment is August–May.
Grade 12 Support
Volunteers assist Grade Parents with the following events for seniors: rafting trip, first day of school celebration, twice-yearly birthday celebrations, senior parent social, Spirit Week, holiday events, exam snacks, DVD/photography, and Casino Night. Each event has two Co-Chairs and volunteers to serve on their committees. Commitment is August–May.
Hospitality
Volunteers provide monthly snacks for faculty/staff, for Parents' Night in September, and the Teacher/Staff Appreciation Luncheon in April. Commitment is August–May.
Upper School Visual Arts
Volunteers assist the Fine Arts department and help plan receptions, such as student art receptions and the visiting artist reception. Commitment is September–May.
Upper School Music
Volunteers help organize breakfast for band participants in the LS Halloween Parade, and plan receptions for the semi-annual concerts in December and May. Commitment is September–May.
Upper School Drama
Volunteers assist the Fine Arts department with One Act Plays and the winter musical. Duties may include planning cast parties, and helping with program design, ticket sales, concessions, and back stage assistance. Commitment is September–May with heavy time commitment during performances.

Fall Concessions
Concession volunteers needed to help with setup, shift work, or cleanup in The Hut at Belk Stadium and The Pavilion. A great way to make new friends or spend time with old ones. See our Bucs in action from the concession stand window!

Concession volunteers needed for help with setup, shift work, or cleanup. A great way to make new friends or spend time with old ones.
Spring Concessions
Concession volunteers needed to help with setup, shift work, or cleanup in Belk Stadium Concessions and The Pavilion.
Fall Tickets
Volunteers needed with ticket sales at home varsity football games.
Winter Tickets
Volunteers needed with ticket sales during home varsity basketball games in Bruton Smith Athletic Center.
Spirit Items
Volunteers help hand out Country Day spirit and logo items during school events such as the Lemonade Party, Big Saturday, and home football games.
Special Events | Special Olympics
Several sports host pre-season jamborees or tournaments throughout the year. Volunteers are needed primarily for concessions and selling tickets. In addition, Country Day hosts the Special Olympics Spring Games and volunteers are needed to help with concessions. This is a great opportunity for Lower and Middle School parents to see Upper School students engage in community service.
International
Volunteer opportunities are offered to help welcome and integrate international families into the school community. Opportunities include:
- Host events (talks, potluck lunches and dinners)
- Host students (exchange students)
- Assist with cultural or global school events
- Help with classroom projects or discussions about your country of origin
