Dear Country Day Families, Faculty and Staff,
As many of you may have already seen, the Mecklenburg County Health Department issued a specific directive this evening at 5 pm with several immediate actions to protect residents from COVID-19, including “utilizing full-virtual options for work, school and any other activity where in-person activity is not required.” As a result, we will be canceling school tomorrow in order to have time to respond to this directive in an adequate and safe way for our school community. While we assess how this directive impacts our school operation, this time also allows our faculty and staff to prepare for the shifting to our remote learning model, plan for faculty/staff childcare needs, and the many aspects needed to serve our students.
As always, the health and safety of our school community is our number one priority. As such, we are taking swift action to ensure we execute a thorough and strong plan. We are so appreciative of your flexibility and patience as we work together through these challenging and uncertain times. It is the strength of this community, alongside the incredible dedication of our faculty and staff, that will ensure our success.
I apologize for the short notice as a result of this late Mecklenburg County Health Department directive. We will send you further communication with more detailed information by 5 pm tomorrow.
Thank you.
Mark Reed
