Hance Lower School Learning Center

A joyful place where students love to read, learn to be innovators and problem solvers in the Makerspace, and benefit from the Brock Center for Extended Day.

The Hance Lower School Learning Center provides a wide array of multi-sensory learning opportunities designed for the needs of our youngest learners while empowering the creativity of their teachers.

Highlights include:

  • Combines an extensive collection of books and resources for digital literacy with storytelling and instruction rooms and reading nooks in the Media Center.
  • Adds the Design and Innovation Lab and the Makerspace to engage young students with age-appropriate, hands-on problem-solving, collaboration, and design thinking.
  • Includes The Brock Center for Extended Day with four dedicated flexible-use classrooms, a culinary corner, and a welcoming entrance to streamline pickup/dropoff—close to the library, Makerspace, and outdoor areas.

The experience for a student in the Makerspace is typically one of freedom. The real learning happens with the planning, struggle, failure, and resilience that accompanies the creation process.
