Phase I construction began on the Purdy Center for Science and Mathematics and the Hance Lower School Learning Center.
Phase 2 began with renovation of Cannon Library into Dowd Student Center and renovation of Cannon Science into College Counseling, Educational Resource Program (ERP), and new Collaboration and Makerspaces.
Phase 3 began with renovation of the former cafeteria space into the new John and Claudia Belk Learning Center.
Five generous donors gave $31 million to begin construction on the Klein Family Natatorium and Performance Gym. A gift from Margaret Gragg Bissell secured the Carmel Road property adjacent to campus for future development.
