Celebrating the Class of 2020
Our seniors have worked hard to earn their Country Day diploma and we are proud of their accomplishments. Graduation is a significant milestone and we are excited to celebrate with joy and pride, amidst these unusual times.
We invite parents, faculty and staff, relatives near and far, fellow students, and friends to join us in congratulating our soon-to-be graduates! Offer your words of support and encouragement as we wish them well. Pay tribute to them as a class or individually (or both!).

We look forward to watching the next chapter unfold. “If your dreams don’t scare you, they are not big enough.” (Ellen Johnson Sirleaf)

"CONGRATS! Always remember, although it seems hard now, you are a part of history. You may have heard your parents or grandparents say something like, 'You don't have it hard! I had to walk 3 miles in snow up to my ankles to get to school!' LOL. Well, guess what, now you will have your own stories you can hyperbolize to your kids and grandkids...'You think you had it hard? I had to stay in my house for months! I couldn't see my friends, family, and still had to go to school!' You are living history and I am positive all of you will make CCDS proud with your accomplishments. Once again, a hearty congratulations to all!"
"Class 2020: I couldn’t be prouder of this Senior Class and the entire Country Day Community!!! When I stood on stage and asked each one of you and your family ecosystem to embrace flexibility and patience during your senior year, I never imagined the true irony. I hope you don’t forget to thank your advisors, your teachers, your coach’s and the Country Day administration for the support they have provided you over your journey and especially this last semester...COVID-19 we will always remember...and talk about for years to come! One thing, I can say for sure—the one constant in life is change. You never know when or how it will enter your life but it does. It is how you react to it that makes all the difference in the world! Class of 2020 you are Country Day Ready - Go and be the CHANGE you wish to see in the world!!!
J.K. Rowling to Harvard University 2008:
“I was convinced that the only thing I wanted to do, ever, was to write novels. However, my parents, both of whom came from impoverished backgrounds and neither of whom had been to college, took the view that my overactive imagination was an amusing quirk that would never pay a mortgage or secure a pension. I know that the irony strikes with the force of a cartoon anvil, now.”
—MC Pilon, Class of 1992

"Class of 2020: Congratulations! What a year to graduate! You will never forget this year and your place in history. While the year unfolded in strange and non-traditional ways, it doesn't diminish the profound accomplishments you folks have achieved. To quote Margaret Meade, "Never doubt that a small group of concerned citizens can change the world—indeed it is the only thing that ever has." The world is in an unprecedented place and as such it gives you opportunities to help others and add to your already amazing legacy. Help heal America and the world through your next steps. The world needs leaders, do-ers, and problem solvers and your class is uniquely equipped to provide that and more. Be well, stay strong, and know your gifts and energy are needed now more than ever."
