Protect: Our number one priority is the safety and wellness of our student-athletes. This is achieved with an empirical, developmentally appropriate, and athlete-centered strength and conditioning program. Student-athletes participate in wellness assessments/screens to determine readiness of training.
Move Well: Addressed with our dynamic warm-up movement assessment and technical progressions. In this assessment, range of motion and muscular function are assessed to determine restorative exercises to attain necessary range and wellness for performance. Our strength and conditioning programming delivers exercise selection and technical progressions that put our student-athletes in the best position to succeed. Our department places an emphasis on minimal effective dose in our training protocol.
Strength: Achieved with our tier-system approach in programming, which prescribes a training stimulus that is developmentally appropriate for each student-athlete to elicit a strength-inducing effect.
Speed: Accomplished through both strength and movement training. In strength training, once technical proficiency and strength standards are achieved, student-athletes progress to perform all movements with a safe but maximal velocity. Our movement training addresses running kinematics and demands of energy systems to best perform in sport.
