At Country Day, excellence extends far beyond the classroom and the playing field. It lives in the relationships built, the encouragement offered, and the unwavering support shown every single day by our faculty and staff. On February 11, 2026, during our girls’ and boys’ basketball starting lineups, our athletes invited members of faculty and staff to escort them onto the court to recognize all those who have made an indelible impact on their journeys.
Educators and staff members give so much of their time, energy, and heart to this community. They show up early, stay late, cheer from the sidelines, offer wise counsel, lend a friendly smile when we most need it, and create classrooms where students feel safe, challenged, and inspired. Each athlete wrote personal remarks to honor the faculty or staff member walking beside them - individuals who have shaped their high school experience in meaningful ways.
These tributes reflect the very spirit of Country Day.
Our students describe teachers who bring laughter into the classroom and make even the most challenging subjects come alive. They speak of mentors who are approachable, thoughtful, and always ready with advice. They honor advisors who guide them through the ups and downs of high school, never allowing them to give up on themselves. They celebrate coaches who support them not only in competition, but in life - offering encouragement, humor, and steady leadership both on and off the court, track, field or pool.
From classrooms filled with energy and enthusiasm to the dining hall brightened by welcoming smiles, our faculty and staff create an environment where students feel known and valued. Teachers like Mrs. Sharp, who makes every interaction meaningful and joyful. Mrs. McBryde, whose warm smile is known across every division of the school. Mr. Cole, who supports students in and out of the classroom and never misses a chance to say hello. Madame Eldredge, who fosters a space where students feel comfortable learning and growing without fear of mistakes.

Students recognize educators who light up their day - like Dr. Chapman, whose positivity is contagious, and Mrs. Stern, who greets every class with genuine joy. They celebrate teachers who make learning engaging and relatable, like Mr. Bach, Mr. McMorris, Mr. Schultz, and those who make classes feel just a little more like family, such as Señora Martinez and Señora Hudson.

They honor teachers who foster passions - Mrs. Leonnig in English, Mr. Utley in design, and Mrs. Allensworth in history - bringing enthusiasm and heart into every lesson. They give thanks to those who provide guidance through pivotal years, like Mr. Daniel, Mr. Cooper, and Mrs.Heintschel. They express deep appreciation for mentors who stand by them through every challenge, including Dr. Combs, Mrs. Bosco, Mr. Tuttle, and Mrs.Niekras.

Some tributes are especially personal, students walking alongside parents who have also been their teachers and role models. Others honor faculty who have become trusted confidants, steady encouragers, and lifelong inspirations.
One particularly powerful reflection captures what so many feel: while many students have teachers they enjoy or who make them laugh, at Country Day, we have teachers who do all of that and so much more. At Country Day, we are fortunate to have such community members - individuals who bring numbers and formulas to life, who connect lessons to the real world, and who show up not just as teachers, but as role models.
Our staff members also shine as vital parts of this community - from the positivity of Mrs. Sarah to the bright presence of Chef Jim in the dining hall. Every role matters. Every contribution counts.

Together, these faculty and staff members represent the heart of our community. Their dedication, guidance, compassion, and belief in our students shape lives in ways that extend far beyond high school. They teach resilience, kindness, curiosity, and confidence. They model integrity and joy. They remind students that they are capable of more than they realize.
To all mentors - teachers, coaches, advisors, and all staff members - who help our athletes meet each moment, we offer our deepest gratitude for always standing beside them. Thank you for your commitment. Thank you for your encouragement. Thank you for believing in our students.
