Country Day Director of Athletics Masanori Toguchi announced the hiring of Allison Mashburn as the Bucs’ new Softball Program Head and Head Varsity Softball Coach, right in time for the spring season.

Mashburn was born and raised in Charlotte and is a Providence High School alumni. Currently, Mashburn is a physical education and health teacher at Hough High School in Cornelius, NC. She played Division 1 softball at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. While in college, she assisted two high school programs in Wilmington and officially started her coaching career at South Iredell High School in 2009. In 2015, Mashburn joined the staff at Hough High School, where she served as head coach for five seasons.

“Charlotte Country Day School has a great reputation for strong academics and athletics," Mashburn said. "The softball program has high-quality student-athletes who are passionate about the game. I am humbled to join this caliber of community and I am looking forward to continuing to add to the excellence of the softball program, as well as the school's standard.”

“Knowing Allison professionally, I know she will bring a new energy to the program,” Toguchi said. “She has an impressive background and practices a leadership style that allows her to apply her knowledge of the game in an exciting way, all while bringing structure and stability. I look forward to welcoming her to our community and watching her bring the program to new heights.”

Mashburn will be on campus for preseason workouts and will start her work with the full team when the spring season launches on February 14. The Bucs' first game is scheduled for February 28 at home against Gaston Christian School.

Allison Masburn
New Softball Program Head

To me, softball teaches a lot of important things, on and off the field. It teaches one to be accountable, respectful, disciplined, how to be a good teammate, and shows the purpose of being part of something bigger than yourself. I am excited to build strong relationships with the softball student-athletes and coaching staff. I want to help each individual athlete reach their athletic and academic potential, as well as help the program compete for a conference and state championship.
