The Bucs wrapped up their spring season in May with several memorable NCISAA contests that showcased the talent, determination, and teamwork of Country Day student-athletes. The Bucs secured the NCISAA Division I Boys Lacrosse Runner-Up State Champion title, the Bucs' first Championship run since 2019.
“This spring, our student-athletes and coaches continued to grow with every game, practice, and workout,” said Country Day Director of Athletics Masanori Toguchi Jr. “We’re proud of the dedication and effort they’ve shown, both individually and as teammates. Their commitment has helped build a culture centered on teamwork, resilience, and continuous improvement, laying a strong foundation for the future of Bucs athletics.”
Baseball
The team had a productive season, finishing in the first round of the NCISAA Playoffs against Christ School. Longtime assistant coach and Lower School Physical Education teacher, Logan Smith, coached his first season as the Bucs Baseball Program Head and Head Coach. This season, the Bucs focused on building culture and togetherness.
This season was Country Day’s first year hosting the Jack Sink Baseball Invitational, which proved to be far more than a series of games - it was a celebration of legacy, community, and the enduring spirit of baseball. With Head Coach Logan Smith, the grandson of Jack Sink himself, leading this event on his home field, the week carried a deep sense of meaning that extended well beyond the mound, building a camaraderie that would last all season.

Boys' Golf
The Boys’ team finished as your Runner-Up Conference Champions at the CISAA Golf Tournament. At the NCISAA State Championship, the Bucs placed 4th overall!
Developing patience, resilience, and facing challenges helped the Bucs finish out the season on a strong note. Coach Harner took the lead on coaching the Boys’ team this season, with the support of her assistant and former coach, Bob Plyler.
Girls’ Lacrosse
Varsity girls’ lacrosse finished an outstanding regular season with a 17-3 record. The Bucs earned the outright 1 seed going into the playoffs and were your CISAA Conference Champions! The Bucs concluded the season in the Semifinals, falling to rival Charlotte Latin, 13-8. Junior Katy Blythe hit an incredible milestone this season - surpassing her 100th career goal!
We were proud to celebrate Katy Blythe, Piper Brawley, and Evelyn Turner on being named USA Lacrosse All-Americans and All-Academic honorees. USA Lacrosse All-Americans are recognized as some of the top players in their region, demonstrating superior skill, exceptional game sense, and outstanding sportsmanship. All-Academic honorees exemplify excellence on the field and in the classroom through strong athletic performance, integrity, and high academic achievement. These Buccaneers represent what it means to lead by example, go beyond the standard, and master their craft.

Boys’ Lacrosse
After an overtime finish against Durham Academy, the Bucs close out an incredible season as your NCISAA Division I Boys Lacrosse Runner-Up State Champions. After a year defined by grit, consistency, and team-first leadership. From opening the season among the state’s best to battling all the way to the title game, this group represented Charlotte Country Day with pride every step of the way.
The Bucs finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in the NCISAA Division I MaxPreps rankings, compiling an impressive 19-3 record against one of the toughest schedules in the state. The Bucs continued to raise the standard with signature wins, dominant performances, and a relentless competitive edge throughout the spring. The Bucs closed out the season as outright Conference Champions for the first time in 10 years and made their first Championship run since 2019.
Goalie Owen Timperman continued to rewrite the record books this season. Owen holds the All-Time program records for Most Saves in a Season (2025) and Most Career Saves. Owen has recorded an incredible 960+ career saves for Charlotte Country Day Lacrosse.

Girls’ Soccer
Girls’ Soccer had another competitive year. They finished the season in the First-Round of the NCISAA Playoffs against Covenant Day, falling 2-1 in OT.
Senior Molly Brown etched her name into Bucs history, becoming the Girls’ Soccer program’s all-time leading scorer and points leader! A dynamic playmaker with a relentless drive, Molly has consistently delivered in big moments, combining skill, vision, and leadership to elevate her team. Her ability to find the back of the net and create opportunities for others has made her a cornerstone of the Bucs’ success.
On March 27th, the Bucs hosted Durham Academy, the same school the '06 team defeated in the championship game. Their legacy endures not just in the record books but in the standard they set for future teams. It is especially meaningful to recognize and welcome home members of that championship squad during a pregame recognition: Cameron Booher, Izzy (Black) Smith, Courtney (Ridenhour) Apgar, Hailey (Beam) Lysaught, Maggie Daniel, and Coach Ian Dennis.

Softball
The Bucs had a productive and developmental year on the field. After earning the 8 seed in playoff rankings, their season ended in the NCISAA Quarterfinals, where the team fell to Covenant Day.

Boys’ Tennis
Boys’ Tennis held its own during another highly competitive season. Their season concluded in the NCISAA Quarterfinals against Cary Academy. This was the first season under Head Coach CC Davis. Coach Calvin remains courtside as his son's assistant coach. Expanding his father's legacy, Coach Davis has already made his own mark on the boys' program. JV Boys’ Tennis had another undefeated season! The future is bright for Bucs Tennis.

At the CISAA meet, the boys’ team finished as CISAA Runner-Up Conference Champions! The girls’ team finished strong in third place.
