Athletics in College

The Athletics Department and College Counseling Office hosted a College Athletics Information Session, comprised of a panel of highly respected experts to talk about the landscape of college athletics. Moderated by Associate Director of College Counseling Jonathan Woog ’98 and Director of Athletics Abe Wehmiller, the panelists included:

  • Oscar Del Pino, Girls’ Soccer Program Head & Boys’ Soccer Technical Director, Charlotte Country Day School
  • Sienna Joseph '19, Centre College Women’s Field Hockey
  • Alan Seretti, Assistant Athletic Director/Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Dickinson College
  • Jon Sims, Associate Dean of Admission, Davidson College
  • Sophie Spada '20, University of Alabama Women’s Track & Field and Cross Country

The panelists focused their remarks on three specific areas: the experience of student-athletes at the Division I, II, and III levels; the college recruiting process; and the role of athletics in college admissions. Additionally, Seretti and Sims both talked about how the impact of COVID-19 and interrupted sports seasons have influenced the recruiting and rostering of student-athletes on their respective campuses.
