About Dr. Christine Carter

A senior fellow and sociologist at UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center, Dr. Carter melds research—including the latest findings in neuroscience, sociology, and social psychology—with her own real-world experiences as the mother of four teenagers. She is the author of The New Adolescence: Raising Happy and Successful Teens in an Age of Anxiety and Distraction; The Sweet Spot: How to Achieve More by Doing Less; and Raising Happiness: 10 Simple Steps for More Joyful Kids and Happier Parents. Dr. Carter writes a monthly advice column syndicated on and regularly appears on television, radio, and in major print media.
