Upper School Athletics Information

Summer 2019

In an effort to help with your summer planning, we have listed below the summer training schedules for all sports that participate in these activities. Most of these are fall sports, but a few winter sports also have significant summer training schedules and are therefore included here. 

General Information

  • No activities prior to the official preseason start date are required, and coaches recognize that student-athletes may be involved in other summer activities that prevent them from participating in school-sponsored training sessions.
  • Summer sessions are great opportunities to train alongside teammates, under the guidance of coaches, in a safe and supervised environment. We encourage all of our athletes to participate when they are available and to prioritize participation, when possible.
  • All athletes should plan to be present for the start of official practices. If an athlete has a conflict that will prevent them from attending official summer practices, they need to communicate that to their coaches as soon as possible.
  • Coaches will communicate specifics with all athletes and families in the coming months. All returning athletes, as well as rising 9th graders and new students who we identify during spring signups, will receive these communications.
  • We will provide certified athletic trainer coverage for all school-sponsored activities throughout the summer. Additionally, the training room will have limited hours throughout the summer for treatment and rehabilitation.
  • The schedules listed here include team-specific strength and conditioning sessions. If a student-athlete is unable to make those times work with his or her summer schedule, he or she may train Monday through Thursday during the hours of 8 am–3 pm, and on Friday 10 am–3 pm. The weight room is often very busy Monday through Thursday from 8–11 am because of football workouts. The weight room will be closed July 3–5.

Workouts

Girls’ Golf does not hold formal workouts in June or July. Players are encouraged to prepare for the season by spending significant time at courses or practice facilities of their choosing or working with private coaches.

Coach Harner will provide direction for specific individual work as needed and arrange for group outings for any interested players. She is considering offering three dates where she would be available for guided practice but will not be able to confirm the location until much closer to the summer.

Team Camp

There is no official team camp, but Coach Harner coaches at the Kim Lewellen Junior Golf Camp June 16–20. If interested, please contact Coach Harner.
