Our two campuses include a full range of facilities that provide our student-athletes the spaces they need to train effectively and compete at the highest level. Facilities are also used throughout the school day by students in our Lower and Middle School physical education classes. Highlights include: 11 natural grass playing fields, two gymnasiums, indoor and outdoor tracks, two sports medicine facilities, and a large weight room.

Cannon Campus

Athletic Pavilion

The Athletic Pavilion is centrally located between all the fields of the Cannon Campus upper field complex, and serves all the various teams that use those fields. In addition to housing restrooms and a concession stand, the Pavilion offers covered shelter from rain and lightning threat and provides a community gathering spot for events.

Belk Stadium & John Cook Field

Our largest outdoor competition venue, Belk Stadium is home to our football and boys soccer teams in the fall and our girls soccer teams in the spring. Key features of the venue include:

  • A full-size natural grass field
  • An eight-lane all-weather track with field event areas
  • Lighting for night competitions
  • Bleacher seating for 2,500 spectators
  • Concession, restroom, and ticketing facilities
  • A two-level press box

Blythe Field

Blythe Field is home to our girls lacrosse teams in the spring doubles as our primary football practice facility in the fall. It features two sets of permanent football goalposts and a remote-operated electronic scoreboard.

Bruton Smith Athletic Center & Harris Gymnasium

The Bruton Smith Athletic Center (BSAC) serves as the hub of Country Day’s athletics facilities.

Located on the building’s main level, Harris Gymnasium features:

  • Three full-size basketball/volleyball practice courts
  • An elevated indoor track
  • Moveable bleachers that can be configured for a 1,500-seat game court
  • Concession stand and restroom facilities

The lower level of the building includes:

  • A wrestling practice room
  • A strength and conditioning center
  • The O’Leary Sports Medicine Center
  • A classroom with stadium-style seating
  • Multiple locker rooms
  • A laundry/equipment room
  • Administrative and staff offices

Crawford Field

Crawford Field is the primary training facility for our boys and girls soccer teams. It includes a single practice field and an additional half-field annex.

Dowd Field

Part of the Cannon Campus upper field complex, Dowd Field is home to our field hockey teams in the fall and boys lacrosse teams in the spring. It features permanent bleacher seating and an elevated and covered scorers’ table.

Ed Walton Field

Country Day’s baseball teams practice and play games at Ed Walton field, which includes:
  • In-ground dugouts for both home and visiting teams
  • Bullpen areas
  • A batting cage
  • An auxiliary practice infield
  • Lighting for night games
  • Bleacher seating behind home plate

Rankin Tennis Courts

Country Day’s varsity and JV tennis teams practice at Rankin Tennis Courts, an eight-court facility that was renovated during the 2013–14 school year. Four of the eight courts can be lit for night play. Bleacher seating is built into the hillside adjacent to the courts.

Softball Field

Our varsity softball team practices and plays its home games on this centrally located field, which has dugouts, bullpens, and a batting cage adjacent to the field.

Bissell Campus

Bissell Campus Fields

Our Middle School campus features four fields designated for 7th and 8th grade practices and competitions: one used for field hockey in the fall and shared by our boys and girls lacrosse teams in the spring; one baseball diamond; one softball diamond; and one field shared between football and boys soccer in the fall, and used by girls soccer in the spring. The baseball and softball diamonds both feature batting cage areas, and the football/soccer field is ringed by a four-lane track.

Bissell Campus Gymnasium

Our Middle School volleyball and basketball programs practice and compete in designated gym space on our Middle School campus. The gym can be set up for two practice courts or one game court for either sport and provides ample spectator seating in its retractable bleachers when set up for games. It also includes a sports medicine facility, concession stand, staff offices, and equipment storage.

Bissell Campus Tennis Courts

Country Day’s Middle School tennis teams have their own dedicated space for practices and matches located on the Middle School campus. The facility features six regulations courts and bleacher seating for spectators.
