The Athletics Hall of Honor celebrates the outstanding achievements and contributions of individuals and teams whose dedication, sportsmanship, and character reflect the core values of our school.

Each nominee embodies the principles of excellence, leadership, and integrity that define Country Day Athletics. Eligible candidates include:

  • Former student-athletes who made a measurable impact during their time at Country Day and beyond
  • Coaches and athletic staff who have left a lasting legacy through their leadership and accomplishments
  • Athletic teams distinguished by their exceptional performance, and
  • Program contributors whose behind-the-scenes dedication has profoundly shaped our athletic community

Nomination Process

Nominations are collected on a rolling basis to be considered for future inductions.

An Athletics Hall of Honor Selection Committee carefully reviews all nominations by balancing objective analysis with thoughtful deliberation. While nominees' awards and achievements are evaluated using a scoring system to ensure consistency, the final selections are made by committee members, considering both measurable accomplishments and broader contributions to the spirit of Country Day Athletics.

Nomination Criteria

Recognition in the Charlotte Country Day Athletics Hall of Honor, in all cases, is reserved for nominees whose achievements and contributions exemplify the principles of sportsmanship and character as expounded in the school’s philosophy and guidelines.

1.    Former Student Athlete 

  • Eligible for nomination 10 years after graduation from Country Day (exception for non-graduate circumstances beyond student athlete control such as job transfer).  
  • Must have lettered in sport at Country Day (exception for sports not offered at Country Day).  
  • Exceptional and measurable impact in their sport while at Country Day.   
  • Additional consideration for performance or contribution to their sport after high school. 

 2.    Coach or Athletic Administrator/Staff  

  • Eligible for nomination after working at Country Day for at least five seasons in one sport. 
  • May be inducted posthumously. 
  • Must have made significant, lifetime career contribution to Country Day Athletics through leadership and/or accomplishments. 
  • Consideration: As example, eligible at the earlier of five years following completion of CCDS Coaching career or 60 years of age.   

 3.    Athletic Team  

  • Eligible for nomination five years after the season for which the team is being recognized. 
  • Must have achieved accomplishments that distinguish their team over and above those of other teams at Country Day. 

 4.    Program Contributor/Advocate/Volunteer 

  • Encompasses non-athletes who have made significant contributions (non-monetary) to athletic department at Country Day.
  • Examples not limited to but intended to include equipment managers, announcers, video specialists, scouts, and volunteers.
