Our first “Grandparents Visitation Day” was held on May 17, 1979. In a letter to parents, Headmaster Horton C. Reed wrote: “We want very much to make ‘Grandparents Day’ a successful, annual event at Country Day.”
Now called Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day, the event includes classroom visits for students in grades JK–6, along with refreshments, student performances, and campus tours. A meaningful experience for all, the day is filled with heartwarming moments, including seeing the excitement of the students as they reunite with their grandparents and special friends.
