Summer Spanish Camp
Rising grades 2–4. Session I: July 28–August 1, 9:00 a.m. to noon. Session II: July 28–August 1, 12:30 p.m. to 3:30. $185 each session.
Come and enjoy a wonderful experience with Spanish and Latin American rhythms, percussion instruments, and choreographed dances! Campers explore with non-traditional percussion instruments as they accompany and sing Latin American songs. Rhythms like salsa, meringue, samba, reggae, and others are part of the repertoire. The choreographies also integrate percussion and singing including the “comparsa” that goes along with the samba rhythm. Campers make a non-traditional percussion instrument to use during the camp and take home at the end of the week; practice group movements that go along with every rhythm learned; practice choreographies to dance at the end of each session; sing songs in Spanish; play rhythms to accompany the songs learned; work in the ensemble of playing, singing, and dancing to the songs given; and perform at the end of the week. All campers need comfortable clothes, water, and a daily snack.
