Dance/Gymnastics Camps

Camp Tutu
Rising pre-K–grade 2. July 14–18, 9:00 a.m. to noon. $170.
Little ballet enthusiasts immerse themselves in daily ballet class, including exercises at the barre and movement across the floor. You explore easy dance sequences, interpretive creative movement, and simple mat gymnastics. Each day begins with stories from the famous ballets, and you interpret the stories and characters with drawing and crafts too. Dress-up, face painting, and role play complete this week of dance. No prior experience is required. Please wear pink or black ballet leotard with pink tights and ballet slippers. Hair must be tied up and off the shoulders. Boys should wear black gym shorts and white T-shirts with black ballet slippers and white socks.

School of North Carolina Dance Theatre
Dance Camp A: The Twelve Dancing Princesses
Girls only, ages 3–5. June 16–20, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. $150.
Where do those 12 princesses go to dance each evening? You spend the week creating through movement, dramatic play, music, and art to learn more about this beloved fairy tale ballet. The week’s creative journey concludes with a gala production on the final day of camp. Dancers must wear dance attire and bring a daily snack.

Dance Camp B: The Magical World of Sleeping Beauty
Girls only, ages 3–5. June 23–27, 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. $150.
Join us as you learn about Aurora and all of the magical characters in one of Tchaikovsky’s greatest works. Through movement, dramatic play, music, and art, the week’s activities culminate in a grand finale as our Sleeping Beauties are reunited with Prince Charming. Dancers must wear dance attire and bring a daily snack.

Dance Camp C: Jump, Jive, and Dance
Boys and girls, ages 6–8. June 23–27, 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.. $175.
If you ever wanted to find out what dance is all about, this camp is for you. Students explore ballet, jazz, and modern, in addition to learning about dance history, terminology, and anatomy. With crafts, music, and preparing for the final performance on Friday, students find this camp is jam-packed with fun! Dancers must wear dance attire and bring a daily snack.

Everybody Dance Now: Cardio, Hip Hop, and Strength
Rising grades 7–9. July 28–August 1, 9:00 a.m. to noon. $170.
Dancing can be fun, but it can also be intimidating if you don’t have the right moves! This class offers students an opportunity to learn some basic dance moves all the while having fun, learning basic choreography techniques, and learning how to implement cardio dance into a healthy lifestyle! Each day, students are exposed to stretching techniques, cardio routines, and both a choreographed dance and time to develop their own performance routine. During the last day of class, family and friends are invited to watch us all perform.

Southeastern Gymnastics and Art for All
Tumble and Art Summer Camp
Ages 4–8. June 16–20. 9:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. $170.
Through Tumble and Art,children are introduced to gymnastics and art instruction. Each day provides similar gymnastics activities and new skills to build and reinforce their abilities. Children enjoy fun obstacle courses each day, and new art techniques are introduced daily to develop a take home project.

Tumble activities include:

  • Gymnastics instruction with professional USAG safety certified coach
  • New gymnastics skills on the beam, floor, and bar
  • Conditioning, stretching, and strengthening
  • Games and music

Art activities include:

  • Instruction by professor of art with over 20 years of teaching experience
  • Exploration and development of creativity and artistic talents
  • A new art project every day
  • Experience with drawing, painting, collages, printing, graphics, and crafts
  • All art supplies provided

Schedule of activities:
          9:00–9:55 a.m.      Art instruction
          9:55–10:10 a.m.   Transition and snack (children are asked to bring their own snack)
         10:10–11:10 a.m.  Gymnastics instruction and games
        11:15 a.m.             Car pool pick-up
