Prior to the 1999 season, girls’ softball in the area was slow pitch. The Bucs fielded a slow-pitch squad starting in 1978 under Head Coach Viola Clark. The Bucs competed in the state championship game nine times, earning NCISAA titles in slow pitch six times and finishing as state runner up three times. Since moving to fast-pitch, the Bucs earned three straight titles and were runner up once. Adriane Starnes took over the program in 2012 and is building the team to be in contention for a playoff bid once again.
