Baseball got its official start at Country Day with a full complement of players in 1961–62 season. NCISAA held its first baseball playoffs in 1975. The Rebels, under Coach Ed Walton, won this inaugural championship. The team went on to win eight additional titles for Coach Walton who retired in 2004 with over 500 victories in his 30 years at the helm of the Bucs. The baseball field was named in honor of Coach Walton in May 2009. Coach Mike Hennessey, now in his tenth season, has taken the Bucs on nine State Championship runs. Under his leadership, the Bucs have played for three titles finishing as runner up each time.
