In 1951 the Boys Basketball program began with an eighth grade team coached by Hugh Watson. Ten years later, they were fielding multiple teams all levels. In 1961, the varsity team finished with a 7–3 record, under the leadership of Coach Bill Moffett. In 1969, the team qualified for the state playoffs finishing third. Their highest finish in the NCISAA tournament to date has been second place, which they accomplished two times under Coach Jimmy Broadway in 1977 and 1978. Head Coach Dwayne Cherry has taken the Bucs to the tournament three times since he took over the program in 2011.
