Our Learning Environment

Two centrally located campuses on more than 100 acres offer a quiet, safe environment for learning and provide a home base for Country Day students as they explore new ideas, their own abilities, and the broader world.

Big Dig

For our younger students, teachers bring nature into the classroom by simply opening the door to our gardens and other natural areas. In 2013, our fourth-grade Green Team Club worked to have Cannon Campus designated as a Schoolyard Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation.

Our Middle School students experience a learning environment designed just for them and integrated with the outdoors through projects like our McAlpine Creek Study and Monarch Butterfly Migration Study.

Upper School students foster community and grow in independence in a college-like campus setting. Our beautiful campuses also serve as a welcoming backdrop for guests, visitors, and community members who come to Country Day to share experiences and offer us new perspectives.

Adopt a Stream

McAlpine Creek Study

Twice a year, eighth-grade students and teachers comb a half-mile section of McAlpine Creek that runs behind Bissell Campus to clean up litter and other water pollutants. In addition to participating in the Adopt-A-Stream program, students collect monthly data from McAlpine Creek to help Charlotte Mecklenburg Storm Water Services monitor the health of our county's waterways.
