Country Day will open on a regular schedule on January 19. Administrators have monitored the weather and surrounding roads for safe travel. Thanks to our plant operations team, the campuses are clear and ready for school.
We understand that some neighborhood roads may not be completely cleared. Please make the safest decision for your family or student driver in the morning. If you believe roads in your neighborhood are unsafe for travel, please do not drive to school until you feel it is safe to do so.
Field Hockey was one of the first offerings in girls sports at Country Day beginning in 1970 with head coach Sue Ellen Miller. The program has had a history of excellence ever since. While there have been several excellent program heads, none has been more successful than Julie Shaw (1983–2002). During her 20 seasons, Coach Shaw led her teams to eight state championships (1983, 1984, 1993, 1994, 1998, 1999, and 2000). Current Head Coach Lisa Thompson has taken the Bucs on eight state championship runs, winning four times (2007, 2009, 2013, and 2014). The Bucs have qualified for the state tournament each year since the inception of the state playoff in 1981, making 23 state championship game appearances.
