Alumni Athletes Recognized for Performance at the Next Level

Many of our former Buccaneer student-athletes continue to make headlines in collegiate and international sports. Here are some recent highlights: 

After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill with an impressive field hockey and academic career, Loren Shealy '11 is now in residency training with the U.S. Women’s National Team in Manheim, Pennsylvania. This October, Loren was selected to travel with the U.S. team to play four test series matches against Great Britain. Read more.

Raina Johnson '12, senior forward on the University of South Carolina's women's soccer team, is finishing her last season as a Gamecock on a high note. Raina ranks second on the team in points with 18 on the year, as she has tallied six points and six assists to her ledger including a pair of game-winning goals. Most recently, she was earned second-team All-SEC honors. Read more. 

Cornell senior rower Conor Jones '12 and his teammates won the gold medal in the lightweight fours at the 51st Head of the Charles. Their boat crossed the line in a time of 16:45.915, besting the field by 35 seconds. Check out the post-race interview. 

William Roberts '12, a member of the Yale Men’s Rugby Team, trained in Hamilton, New Zealand over the summer with the coaching staff of the Chiefs Investec Super Rugby Team (back-to-back Super Rugby league champions in 2012 and 2013). Will also played with the storied Hamilton Marist rugby club. Read more.

Ben Kepley '13, junior punter at Dartmouth, was named Ivy League special teams player of the week on Oct. 26. Watch video highlights. 

As a sophomore defensive back for the Washington and Lee University Generals, Michael Shields '14 one-handed interception against Randolph-Macon earned him the top spot in the seventh week of the ODAC Football Play of the Week fan poll. Watch the winning play of the week.
