Planning for the Future

While it’s true that learning can take place just about anywhere, students and faculty thrive when they work in spaces that fully support innovative and creative academic programming. As part of the Strategic Plan process, the school community expressed a desire to ensure we continue to offer our students a distinctive and sustainable learning environment.

The Administrative Council and the Property and Grounds Committee of the Board of Trustees have worked with Centerbrook Architects and Planners to develop a Master Facilities Plan that supports our students’ needs for decades to come. After multiple assessment visits to campus and meetings and interviews with trustees, administrators, faculty, students, and parents, Centerbrook developed a facilities plan that:

  • Recognizes the need for flexible learning and gathering spaces
  • Supports 21st century academic programming, including STEM (science, technology, engineering, math)
  • Addresses students’ well-being in all aspects of student life

The Master Facilities Plan was approved by the Board of Trustees in May 2014. Stay tuned for future updates as plans unfold.

Creating New Opportunities

In May 2014, the Board of Trustees approved a long-range master facilities plan to create an innovative learning environment, strengthen community, and prepare students for a fast-changing, global society. The immediate needs include:

  • A multi-level, state-of-the-art math and science building that will give students distinctive learning opportunities for academic growth and college readiness.
  • A flexible dining and community space that supports students' physical and emotional well-being.
  • A learning center capable of handling both quiet study and student and teacher collaboration.
