Professional Development

Our outstanding educators receive encouragement and support to hone their craft and stay up-to-date with the latest research. Our teachers know they are expected to keep growing and learning, and they are motivated by a professional community that values new ideas and approaches.

Professional development is an ongoing experience. Every five years, each faculty member is expected to complete 80 hours of training in order to stay current with the latest research. Additionally, every teacher must have a minimum of 10 hours of diversity and inclusion training for each of their continuing/ongoing education cycles.

“Country Day has enriched my life and made me a better teacher due to the exceptional professional development the school provides. In my years of teaching here, I’ve been the lucky recipient of life-changing grants to explore the Amazon and Peruvian highlands, the Balkans, and Mexico. Experiencing these cultures first hand allows me to provide a deeper understanding for my students."

Jennifer Joyner, Middle School Spanish, 16 years at Country Day
