Grades 5-8 Parent Education: "Online Enticement and Preventing Your Child from Becoming a Victim"

Date: Tuesday - October 17, 2017
Time: 8:15 AM to 9:30 AM
Location: Dougherty Media Center

John Letterhos from the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force will discuss current issues regarding online safely for middle schoolers. Mr. Letterhos is a popular speaker and will share stories, advice, and resources with parents to help guide, monitor, and report concerns.

From John Letterhos:

"The presentation is titled, Online Enticement and Preventing Your Child from Becoming a Victim. I have literally spent that last year of my life pretending to be an 11-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl. I go online using various platforms and chat with predators. It has been exhausting. Some of what I discuss will be from last year but there will be some new things too, like some of the chatting cases I have worked over the past year. I will also offer some updated ideas on spyware and some new apps kids and predators may be using."
