International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP)

The Lower School of Charlotte Country Day became an authorized International Baccalaureate World School during the summer of 2005. As an IB school, the Lower School provides the Primary Years Programme (PYP) for all students, junior kindergarten through fourth grade.

The PYP is a transdisciplinary program of international education that focuses on the development of the whole child by addressing the academic, social, physical, emotional, and cultural needs of the students. The PYP promotes the construction of knowledge, guided inquiry as a vehicle for learning, and international-mindedness. In addition, it creates a concept-driven program that balances the transdisciplinary program of inquiry with traditional disciplines.
