Travel and Security

More about the program:

Ensuring the personal safety of our students as they travel abroad has always been of utmost importance to the International Studies office.

  • The student/teacher ratio on Charlotte Country Day School summer study trips and sister school exchanges is never more than 10:1.
  • We constantly monitor the Department of State website and confer with other risk analysis authorities to determine the political and economic conditions of our destination countries.
  • Administrators and teachers visit potential sister schools several times before any student travel is planned. In fact, all our sister schools have come to our attention through personal contacts, as we seek schools that share similar values and goals as CCDS.
  • Parents are encouraged to understand all that they can about the nature of each foreign exchange or study abroad program. Several orientation meetings are held to answer all your questions, and group e-mails are set up to ensure all students and parents have the information they need for a safe, educational, and fulfilling trip.
