
Millie Cox '66, interim director of International Studies, served as the founding Director of International Studies for 21 years before retiring in 2011. Mrs. Cox was responsible for developing sister school relationships, including student and teacher exchanges, in England, Canada, Mexico, China, Germany, Chile, Costa Rica, and France; planned study trips to Italy and Spain; worked to integrate global connections into the curriculum; brought international dignitaries to campus and taken students to global affairs events throughout the city; created a strong sense of community for international families at CCDS; and generally developed a culture in which CCDS brings the world to its students and its students to the world. Nancy Hackett, International Studies administrative assistant, joined the office in November 1994. Nancy enjoys working with all the students she encounters at CCDS. Jessica Newman, Service Learning and Sister School Exchange Coordinator, joined the office in August, 2012. Having taught French at Country Day for the past seven years, Jessica has a passion for all things international. Her work in CCDS' International Studies Office included developing and leading the Canadian Sister School program from its inception. Jessica holds a B.A. in French from Furman University and an M.A. in French Literature and Language from Boston College. Volunteers
The Ambassadors for International Studies are parent volunteers from all divisions who support the program by coordinating field trips for Sister School exchange students visiting our school and helping with duties such as preparing orientation packets or planning special events.
